■ growing up in longport, new jersey, jordan nathanial roake also known as nate, was a pretty decent kid. though he hadn't been one of those that caused his parents to be idolized as just that..parents, he was good enough to have his parents feel okay with taking him everywhere. nate didn't exactly feel that he had the life that every kid would hope for, but he did assume that he had a life worth living, but that was up until the death of the young boys father. being a twin, having a best friend, and having a mother that cared greatly about you, you would of course have support all through your life, but due to the absents of nathans father, the boy would begin to act out. now, i know what you're thinking, different boy, same story, but with nathanial roake, this isn't exactly the same story, because along with him acting out because of his now missing father figure, nathan would remain to be humble to himself, his family, and his peers and it would cause his life to move along quiet smoothly, that is, until the day he was sent to juvi. ■ there is always that boys will be boys speech, and though it's completely correct in his life as well, it wouldn't continue to be the excuse for him. being sent to juvineil hall for vandalism is just as bad as being sent to jail for grand theft auto, but it wouldn't stop nathanial from actually staying in the place he called home for six months, and trying to live up to the standards that his father had set for him. yes, his father was now deceased, but nathan knew that no matter what, he had to worry about the man that had once taken care of him. growing up, he always felt like a failure, but while being inside the detention center, he would realize that the failure he once be would be no more. but, was he ready to quit living the life he had been so use to? of course not, but this was one of those times where one would have to change for the better. ■ nathanial was not a bad twin. no, that title would go to his sister joslyn roake, but he of course had those moments, and though the moments would not stop after making his first and final exit of the detention center, they would become more under control. returning home, the partying, the drinking, and the smoking would continue, but the vandalism would stop, which would cause nathanial to feel a lot better than himself. he still drank, smoke, and did his best to have fun, but now that he had it under control, he felt that he was no longer the little kid he once was. everyone knows adults take all resposiblity for the things that they've done, and though the things he had done weren't as bad as many others, he did all he did to take fully resposiblity, and not only did he feel that his mother was happy with him, but he also felt that his father was happy with him as well, which only caused him to feel accomplished. ■ yes, after he left the detention center, he was still confined to his home for house arrest, but that didn't stop the boy from going to school and getting a very good education. yeah, the education was only high school bound, but it would soon lead to him graduating, and feeling even more accomplished than he had already been. nate was a good kid, he did everything he needed to do, and understand what was needed in life to get where he needed to be, and though people may not think it's enough, it was for him. because he would no longer be the slacker that he had once been before getting in trouble for his actions. ■ as stated before, nathans ways hadn't changed, but they did get to the point where the boy could live his life and do what was needed to be done. and for him, college needed to to be done. unlike any other college story, this one would not have an happy ending, because instead of finishing his four year terms at NYU, nathan would decide that school was not for him, and this caused him to dropout. he felt like he had his life on track, actually he knew that he had this life on track, but he would soon realize that this life, would not be the one he wanted. he was living in new york, away from family, and friends, and it caused him to wonder. did he really want this? was this really for him? though people may take a while to get the answer to this, nate would get his quickly, and it would only cause him to leave school and move back home. not exactly a smart move when you have a place to yourself, but he knew it had to be done. so once it had been, he felt a hell of a lot better than he did just a few days prior. life may not go the way you want it on the first try, but for him, he would surely go the way he hoped for during the second. ■ coming back home, nathan decided that it was time to start over, and though he hadn't started his life over completely, he did change it around some. but one thing he wouldn't change, was the same living arrangements with his mother. moving back home, nate would have his living arrangements become something he enjoyed, and though it wasn't very good with him being a nineteen year old, he knew it would help him get back on his feet. and now, he felt that he was back on his feet. ■ living with mom was not exactly a good thing, but thanks to her help, he'd finally get himself another job and even attend school once more. yes it was a community college but it would only help nathanial built up and prepare himself for a university would he decided to go once again. as of this moment, his life isn't the greatest, but thanks to the things he had gone through, and how he is now living, he once again have gotten to the point where he actually love being who he came out to be. ( and in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. it's the life in your years. )
